Waheed Omer

Ambassador Waheed Omer is a Senior Advisor at Albright Stonebridge Group, a founding member of DGA Group, and is based in New York City. He advises clients of the South Asia practice in strategic communication initiatives that support corporate objectives and foster stakeholder engagement.

Ambassador Omer brings deep experience and in-depth knowledge of Afghanistan. He has held numerous high-level government positions, recently serving as Executive Director of Strategic Communications. In this role, he led a cabinet portfolio that oversaw the government’s overall strategic communications and public affairs, including the President of Afghanistan’s press and communication offices. He was previously Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Italy and permanent representative to the United Nations in Rome. He was also the Deputy Director of the Cabinet Office, the Director of Afghan Government’s Monitoring and Evaluation Office, and the Chief Organizing Officer of the Afghanistan Pakistan Peace Jirga.

Most recently, Ambassador Omer worked as a Senior Manager for Site Affairs and Communications for Pfizer’s Research and Development division. Earlier in his career, he was Managing Partner at PAHNA Group, a communications and public relations firm in Kabul.

Ambassador Omer holds an M.A. in Political Science from the University of York and a B.A. in International Studies and Diplomacy. He speaks both Persian and Pashto and is proficient in Urdu/Hindi and German.
