Ambassador Michael Ratney is a Senior Advisor at DGA-Albright Stonebridge Group, a founding member of DGA Group, based in Washington, D.C. He advises clients on Middle East geopolitics, business and investment.

Ambassador Ratney served more than 30 years as a U.S. diplomat, most recently as U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia. He also served as U.S. consul general in Jerusalem, chargé d’affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Israel, and in diplomatic postings in Baghdad; Beirut; Casablanca, Morocco; Doha, Qatar; Mexico City; Tunis, Tunisia; Bridgetown, Barbados; and Washington, D.C. During his diplomatic career, Ambassador Ratney played a central role in high-profile initiatives across the Middle East, including as U.S. special envoy for Syria.

Ambassador Ratney taught leadership at the National Defense University in Washington and served as dean of the State Department’s School of Language Studies. He speaks Arabic and French.

Ambassador Ratney is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the American Academy of Diplomacy, the Board of Governors of the Middle East Institute and the Board of Directors of AMIDEAST. He is also a distinguished fellow at the Israel Policy Forum and a senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

Ambassador Ratney earned degrees from Boston University and George Washington University.
