Markus Kerber

Dr. Markus Kerber is a Senior Advisor at DGA-Albright Stonebridge Group, a founding member of DGA Group, and is based in Berlin, Germany. He draws on more than 20 years of experience across government, finance, and industry to advise clients on geopolitical risk, economic policy, and international market strategy.  

Markus is Managing Partner at 1886 Ventures GmbH and Chairman at Heinz Dürr GmbH. He previously served as the Director General of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), Europe’s biggest industry association which represents more than 100,000 manufacturing companies in Germany, with influence in Berlin, Brussels, Beijing, and across Europe. His government experience includes work at the Federal Ministry of the Interior, as State Secretary and Head of the Department of Policy Planning and International Analyses, and the Federal Finance Ministry, where he served as Chief Economist. Markus has also worked for S.G. Warburg & Co and Deutsche Bank and later became Co-Founder and CFO at IT service provider GFT Technologies in Stuttgart.    

 Markus earned his B.A. and PhD from University of Hohenheim, during which time, he received the DAAD scholarship and spent half a year at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. His dissertation focused on Geoeconomics and Paul Kennedy’s “The Rise and Fall of Nations.”
