Ian Smith
Ian Smith is a Senior Advisor at DGA-Albright Stonebridge Group, a founding member of DGA Group, and is based in Adelaide. He draws on decades of experience in public affairs and government to assist clients of the firm’s East Asia and Pacific practice with growth strategies in Australia and throughout the region.
Previously, Mr. Smith was CEO of the public relations firm Gavin Anderson & Company (Australia) and a member of the company’s global executive committee. He served as an advisor to an Australian State Premier and a State Leader of the Opposition, after having been a journalist.
Mr. Smith founded and serves as Joint Managing Partner of Bespoke Approach, an Australia-based corporate advisory firm. He serves as the United Kingdom’s Honorary Consul in South Australia. He is Deputy Chair of the King’s Trust Australia, which as part of the King’s Trust Group and inspired by His Majesty King Charles III, helps young people into work. He is engaged in refugee advocacy as Chairman of Barefoot to Boots, an NGO that assists refugees through the provision of resources to camps and settlements, and is on the board of Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia, which oversees resettlement of refugees supported by community groups across Australia.
Mr. Smith is an occasional commentator and columnist for Australian media outlets.
Mr. Smith was at the London College of Printing (now the University of the Arts London), where he studied business and journalism. He has also completed the Advanced Management Program, run by Omnicom, at Babson College in Massachusetts.
