David J. Novitsky

David Novitsky is a Senior Director at DGA-Albright Stonebridge Group and is based in Washington, DC. He advises clients on commercial diplomacy and geopolitical risk across Europe and Eurasia, drawing on more than a decade of experience in senior U.S. government roles.

Before joining the firm, Dr. Novitsky served as a senior intelligence analyst in the State Department, where he led teams of analysts focused on Europe. He also served on the National Security Council as country director for Western and Central Europe and spent two years supporting the President’s Daily Brief, including 14 months delivering daily intelligence briefings to Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

During his government service, Dr. Novitsky was an early innovator in the use of large language models (LLMs) in intelligence analysis. In 2019, he led the State Department Bureau of Intelligence and Research’s first use of LLMs in an intelligence product and later served on AI integration boards.

He received a PhD in Politics from the University of Virginia in 2013 and conducted portions of his dissertation research at the Institute for Social Research at Goethe University Frankfurt as a recipient of a Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst scholarship. Outside of work, he enjoys basketball and golf and is an avid drummer.
