Brett Scott
Brett Scott is an Associate Partner at DGA Group and is based in Washington, D.C.
Most recently, Mr. Scott served as Vice President of the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association (NIADA) where he led the government affairs department and its 14,000 active members. During his time, he was vital in key legislative initiatives focusing on Catalytic Converter thefts and safety recalls. Mr. Scott was also instrumental in building relationships with key regulatory agencies such as the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Department of Commerce and the Department of Transportation (USDOT).
Prior to joining NIADA, Mr. Scott served as Senior Government Affairs Officer & Public Liaison to the Secretary at the Department of Transportation where he focused on advancing the Secretary’s mission of creating a safer, more reliable and customer-service oriented transportation system. More specifically, he supported public outreach and industry engagement specific to maritime and surface transportation. Lastly, he aided in the Department’s response to COVID-19’s impact on the nation’s transportation network and domestic supply chain.
Prior to his government service, Mr. Scott worked at the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) as Director of Government affairs and Senior Advisor at shipping conglomerate A.P. Moller-Maersk. Brett has also previously worked at the Energy & Commerce Committee.
Mr. Scott received the Secretary’s Distinguished Service Award for COVID-19 Response Efforts (USDOT) and is the Auto-Remarketing 40 under 40 awardee.
Mr. Scott received a B.S. in pre-law with a minor in business from Pennsylvania State University. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, 2-year-old daughter and 9-month-old son, playing golf, and being out on the water as much as possible.
