Anka Lee
Anka Lee is a Senior Advisor at DGA-Albright Stonebridge Group, a founding member of DGA Group, and is based in Los Angeles. He is a national security expert on Indo-Pacific affairs and an executive who has led large teams in the public and private sectors.
Prior to DGA-ASG, Mr. Lee served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for East Asia, where he led defense policy, strategies, and bilateral security relations for the East Asia region. Before his tenure at the Pentagon, he was a Deputy Assistant Administrator at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), overseeing multilateral affairs. He also led and coordinated global strategy and efforts relating to China across USAID.
His work in international affairs also included stints at WhatsApp, in the U.S. intelligence community, in the U.S. Congress, and as an Asia-based journalist. Prior to working in foreign affairs, Mr. Lee was a political reporter in California and served as a legislative aide at the California Legislature. He also led a four-year campaign that successfully secured the 1998 passage of a $40 million bond measure to renovate local public schools.
He has written for and appeared on The Atlantic, Bloomberg, The Diplomat, Just Security, Foreign Policy, NBC, Newsweek, POLITICO, Time, and San Francisco Chronicle. Mr. Lee received his B.A. in American politics from the University of California, Berkeley, and M.A. in East Asian studies from Harvard University. He previously served as a Senior Director at Albright Stonebridge Group, now part of DGA Group, from 2013-2017.
