Andrew Weiss

Andrew Weiss is a Senior Advisor at DGA-Albright Stonebridge Group, a founding member of DGA Group, and is based in Washington, D.C. He specializes in issues related to Russia and the former Soviet Union. 

Currently, Mr. Weiss serves as Vice President for Studies at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, overseeing research on Russia and Eurasia. Previously, he was Director of the RAND Corporation’s Center for Russia and Eurasia, focusing on Russia’s emerging business elites. Before joining RAND, he was a Vice President and Investment Strategist at AIG, working on global commodities, energy, and foreign exchange markets. 

Mr. Weiss also served as Director for Russian, Ukrainian, and Eurasian Affairs on the National Security Council staff, as a member of the State Department’s Policy Planning Staff and as a Policy Assistant in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy during the Clinton and George H.W. Bush administrations.

Mr. Weiss holds an M.A. in international relations and a B.A. in Russian regional studies from Columbia University. He is fluent in Russian and is the author of the graphic novel biography “Accidental Czar: The Life and Lies of Vladimir Putin.”
