Jonathan A. Kaplan

Jon Kaplan is a Partner at DGA-Albright Stonebridge Group, a founding member of DGA Group, and is based in Washington, D.C. He leads the firm’s Education & Workforce practice, advising companies, universities, education-sector investors, non-profit organizations and others, informed by decades of leadership in business, government and education.

Before joining DGA-ASG, Mr. Kaplan spent 20 years as an executive, investor and consultant in the global education sector. Mr. Kaplan was CEO of Laureate Education’s Online division, one of the largest online education platforms in the world, and President of Walden University. He co-founded Inspara Partners, an investment firm focused on education ventures. He is also an Adjunct Lecturer in the master’s program in higher education administration at Georgetown University.

Mr. Kaplan previously served in the White House as Special Assistant to the President for economic policy and Chief of Staff of the National Economic Council under President Bill Clinton. He also held posts at the U.S. Department of the Treasury and on U.S. Senator John Kerry’s staff. Before his government service, he practiced law at Covington & Burling.

Mr. Kaplan has served on numerous corporate, non-profit, university and school boards. He has testified before the U.S. Congress on education matters and was appointed in 2013 to serve on a Congressional Task Force conducting a comprehensive review of federal higher education regulations and laws.

Mr. Kaplan earned his A.B. cum laude in government from Harvard University, and his J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where he served as an editor on the law review.
