Jan Kamphuisen

Jan Kamphuisen is a Partner in DGA-ASG’s Middle East and North Africa practice (MENA). He advises clients in the UAE and the wider MENA region on government relations and geopolitics and supports government organizations with their public policy needs.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kamphuisen worked at a global risk consultancy firm, where he headed up the political risk consulting practice for the MENA region. In that role he gained considerable experience helping organizations understand and resolve a broad range of issues and capitalize on opportunities from Morocco to Pakistan. Mr. Kamphuisen subsequently managed the firm’s Europe & Africa teams in London, before moving to Yangon where he led its Myanmar operations.
Earlier in his career Mr. Kamphuisen worked as a lawyer in Cairo and Dubai, where he advised clients on corporate and commercial issues in various North African and GCC countries. He started his career at the European Space Agency, where he worked on legal aspects of space programs before assuming a broader role focused on the Agency’s technology transfer and business incubator programs.
Mr. Kamphuisen holds an M.A. in European and International Law and a degree in Arabic Language and Culture from Leiden University in the Netherlands. He also studied International Relations at the University of Poitiers, France.
Mr. Kamphuisen is a native Dutch speaker. He also speaks English, French, German, and Arabic, as well as some Italian and Spanish.
He is based in Dubai, UAE.
