Andrés García is a Partner at DGA Group based in Washington, D.C. He specializes in dispute communications and crisis response for management teams, focusing on cross-border communications and stakeholder engagement programs. He has advised a broad portfolio of global clients, including sovereign states and corporations facing unprecedented events interrupting their license to operate.

While most matters that he works on are strictly confidential, Mr. Garcia’s public-facing work includes:

  • Providing communications and stakeholder management support to legal counsel for a $4 billion commercial arbitration case between South American and Southeast Asia business conglomerates;
  • Directing a successful dispute communications program for Canadian investors undergoing an investment dispute settlement arbitration against the Venezuelan dictatorship and its US-domiciled assets;
  • Coordinating the crisis response program for one of South America’s largest banking institutions after it suffered a malicious ransomware attack;
  • Managing the restructuring communications for Latin America’s largest airline during its pandemic-induced Chapter 11 bankruptcy process in six jurisdictions;
  • Serving as media liaison in Washington, D.C. for the Government of Mexico during the 2017-2018 North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) renegotiation, simultaneously engaging with American and Mexican stakeholders.
  • Leading synchronized communications campaigns in Washington, D.C., Bogota, Mexico City, and Brasilia on behalf of a coalition of life sciences corporations addressing distressed regulatory and intellectual property environments;
  • Advising the Dominican Republic government in its management of emerging migratory issues caused by Haiti’s humanitarian and security crisis; and
  • Counseling an international private equity agribusiness during an internal whistleblower incident with regulatory and jurisdictional workstreams in Chile, the U.S., and Norway.

Mr. Garcia works with senior executives, legal counsel, and boards of directors to address unexpected moments of change, risk, or transformation within their organizations. He is also a trained market researcher, having executed surveys and digital and qualitative research in several countries and languages.

Before joining DGA Group, Mr. Garcia worked for a global management consulting firm. Prior to that he was a strategic advisor for political leaders in Colombia. There, he served as a trusted advisor for one of the country’s most prominent business leaders turned politician. He has experience across North America, Latin America, and other emerging markets and regularly advises in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
