Alvaro Vertiz

Alvaro Vertiz is a Partner at DGA Group and is based in Mexico City. He is a seasoned business and legal professional with extensive experience in Latin America.
Mr. Vertiz served as a member of the board and Chief Operating Officer, Head of Business Strategy, Strategic Partnerships for BlackRock Mexico, where he oversaw the day-to-day operations and strategic relationships of the company. During his time at BlackRock, Mr. Vertiz managed assets worth US$90B, making significant contributions to the company’s growth. Before such positions, he served as the company’s General Counsel and Head of Compliance.
Prior to joining BlackRock, Mr. Vertiz was the VP General Counsel Latin America at Prudential Real Estate Investors Latin America, where he was responsible for all legal aspects of the company’s investments in Chile and ongoing business in Brazil, among other responsibilities. He also held senior legal positions at GE Capital Real Estate and GE Capital Solutions.
Mr. Vertiz started his career as a Legal Associate at Banco Nacional de México, S.A., Grupo Financiero Banamex, Citigroup, where he was responsible for the government relations and Board of Directors matters.
Mr. Vertiz holds a Law degree from Universad Panamericana and a Master’s degree in Law and Business from Northwestern University School of Law and Kellogg School of Management. He has also studied negotiation at Harvard Law School and Disruptive Leadership at Leonard N. Stern School of Business at NY.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Vertiz led for two years the UN Global Compact Sustainable Investing group where he published a paper on Sustainable Investing Best Practices. He is a mentor at Endeavor Mexico and has hosted the Encuentro Podcast for BlackRock Mexico. He has published several articles, and serves as a professor of management at the Universidad Panamericana Business School and as an invited lecturer in the Corporate Governance Module at the Universidad Panamericana School of Law.
Mr. Vertiz is fluent in both Spanish and English, allowing him to effectively navigate the complexities of the Latin American market.
